Pro tip since that happened to me before : Get yourself 2 pairs, one that you'll consistently use and one pair of cheap but functional ear buds.
I do this because a lot of my work requires that whenever I'm on call, or doing anything alone, everything I'm doing doesn't get blasted out through the speakers.
